The Green Shack is located in Dodge Center, MN. It is locally owned, and family operated by Brittany and Zach Wilcox, along with our two young children, Alex and Emily. 

We moved to Dodge Center, MN in 2009 after Zach’s army enlistment was complete. We instantly fell in love with the area and knew we wanted to make our forever home here.

After a few years, Brittany decided she wanted to pursue her life-long passion of horticulture, so she enrolled at RCTC to study horticulture. During her time at RCTC, she also realized she wanted to make this passion of horticulture a forever career. Together, she and Zach talked about things she could do to make that dream happen and that’s when the initial idea of The Green Shack started. We thought that Brittany could grow plants and veggies and sell them to our community.

We knew we needed to buy a property that would allow us to have a garden, as well as a building that we could use as a store. We looked at a property in Dodge Center, as well as some others, but the one in Dodge Center had our hearts. We made an offer, got the property, and The Green Shack was born!

We started small, purchased bees, started growing some plants and sprucing up the place. We soon realized this property had a lot more potential, so we purchased ducks, chickens, and goats and a donkey. We then decided we could teach classes and host some groups for arts and crafts also.  Zach is skilled in the shop, making things out of wood and metal while Brittany enjoys glass work, painting, making goat milk soap, and teaching others how to care for their plants, among other things. 

Because of all the great space on the property, The Green Shack also offers the space for hosting birthday parties, ladies night out, family get togethers or work gatherings.
